Hot off the Press: Business Cards for Matthew Carbone by Soulellis Design

Yellow, black and white. Pinball’s favorite colors.
Business cards, 2 styles, Environment 120# Cover White, Pantone soy-based inks

Matthew Carbone is an architectural photographer with some pretty gorgeous images in his portfolio. One look makes you want to leap into the grandeur of the built environments he captures in his photographs.

Paul Soulellis of Soulellis Design is responsible for this simple and effective business card design. Yellow, black and white play nicely together for a fun-yet-professional set of cards set in Akzidenz Grotesk. Thank you to Paul for this nice photograph.

Matthew Carbone shared some interesting thoughts about the design of this card:

Our concept was to use minimal typography and color in a bold presentation.  While the two cards feature identical information the difference in color seems to play well in the architectural world. Some enjoy the classic simplicity of the black card, while other become quite excited by the yellow, a welcome dose of bright color it seems. (Yellow has a slight lead in popularity)

Yellow is my favorite, too.

Let’s get to work!
Scout Books, Grid interior, Chipboard 20pt. Kraft, Pantone soy-based inks

Bethany Ng is a Portland-based illustrator and designer with some pretty awesome self-promotional items. She created these Scout Books wrapped in a bunch of useful turquoise tools. The back cover is chock-full with useful tips for navigating life. Need to know the keyboard shortcut for the pen tool in Adobe Illustrator? Need to know how to kill a zombie? Consult the back of Bethany’s Scout Book. You’ll find it all there.

Hot off the Press: Pocket Postcards and Business Cards by Will Bryant

Chipboard and black ink has never looked so good.
Pocket postcard, Chipboard 20pt. Kraft, Pantone soy-based inks, 1/4″ rounded corners
Business card, Chipboard 20pt. Kraft, Pantone soy-based inks, 1/4″ rounded corners

Will Bryant and Mark Menjivar join forces in this black-and-chipboard system of identity pieces. Will’s signature hand-drawn type brings a friendly tone to the face of Texas RioGrande Legal Aid. These pocket postcards speak specifically to youth experiencing homelessness and share the helpful services that TRLA offers. The classic-yet-approachable business card design carries Will’s fun script as well!

Will5

Mark Menjivar and Will Bryant are two gentlemen who have a serious collection of projects under their belts.

You may remember Mark from a custom Scout Book we made for him a few months ago, which was a food journal illustrated by Kate Bingaman-Burt. The Scout Book coincided with a showing of Mark’s photography project You Are What You Eat and all proceeds from its sale benefitted Janus Youth Programs, a Portland-based non-profit that empowers youth.

Will Bryant’s work spans mediums but is always full of energy. His ongoing work for Super Yoga Palace is some of my favorite (and includes a mural!)

Keep your eye on these guys. They are sure to continue to deliver great work.
