So Many Books - It’s Scary
Written on October 10, 2007

The Frankfuter Buchmesse (that’s the Frankfurt Book Fair for those of you who speak American) opened today with over 7,000 exhibitors from 108 countries. Hundreds of thousands of visitors are expected at this, the largest gathering of publishers, agents, librarians, artists, collectors and printers in the world. Its roots span over 500 years to the time of Johannes Gutenberg, who really got the ball (err, book) rolling with the development of movable type from his workshop in Mainz, a mere 40KM (25 miles - yeah, you) from Frankfurt. The fair will cover over 550,000 square feet—take that, Powell’s!
