It’s a notebook. No, it’s an iPhone. No, it’s a notebook…

Vol5 isĀ ”a small company based in California that makes interesting and useful things.”
Vol5 has great ideas.
One of those ideas is this new AppBook, a Scout Book turned iPhone application design template. Wow, right? The Scout Book’s size and format lent itself well to this project. We talked to the Adam Sarpalius, the manĀ behind the company, to get the scoop on his motivation to design this stellar product:
So the basic idea behind AppBooks is to give iPhone app developers a way to sketch out ideas for the apps they’re working on without having to worry about scale or proportions. The iPhone templates printed on every other page are actual-size, so what you see is what you get.”

And why a pocket notebook?
“Right now a lot of app developers are just sketching out a rough rectangle on a grid background when they sit down to work, which is both time-consuming and inaccurate. AppBooks are a convenient, pocket-size solution to that problem. Instead of guessing your way at a rough outline of the iPhone’s screen, you can flip open an AppBook and start sketching, knowing that what you see is what your end-user would hold in their hands.”
Thanks for that terrific insight, Adam! (And the terrific photos. All images courtesy Vol5)
You can find these notebooks in 5-packs online in the Vol5 shop. Be sure to follow Vol5 on twitter. (@vol5brand) Word on the street is that they do regular giveaways…
