BS Brewing is a Portland collective of home brewers. Dave Selden and BS Brewing used the Scout Book to create this awesome Beer Journal, complete with a custom interior that begs for you to record your adventures in tasting fine brewed beverages.
Beer aficionados often refer to particular tastes of brews using words like “Toffee,” “Sulphury,” and “Floral.” BS Brewing developed a flavor wheel for you to easily track the tastes of each and every brew you try. Such innovation!
We asked Dave to elaborate on the development process for this Beer Journal. Turns out he saw our very own Laura Whipple give a presentation as part of AIGA Portland’s Green Salon. She spoke for five minutes on the Wonderful World of Chipboard, and wow! Dave liked what he heard:
“It was hilariously short from concept to delivered books. I think I had the idea while Laura was presenting to AIGA and had files to her within a day or two!”
BS Brewing asks in their FAQ, “Is this a joke?” The answer:
“No, it’s not a joke. We really do enjoy taking notes on beer, we recognize that we are maybe a little nerdy, and that some people prefer one beer, all the time. To each his own, we say.”
This beer journal is available at 33beers.com. They run $4 for a single notebook, $10 for a three-pack, and bulk discounts are available. The more you buy, the cheaper they get! Here’s an idea: start a beer club. Sort of like a book club, but no reading involved. Just jotting notes down on the beers you sample.
33 Bottles of Beer: what a good idea!
