i first read about ampersand through a friends blog back when i was living on the other side of the country. as soon as i moved here i became obsessed with the store. now i conveniently live right near the store and whenever i am drained of inspiration i head to ampersand and pick through the hundreds of photography books and ephemera in the store, its one of my portland faves.
I agree! So many of us are inspired by aged ephemera and photographs, and Ampersand is really unique in their offering of it. They let you skip the garage sale and go right to the good stuff!
